Skull and Bones: The Long-Awaited Pirate RPG is Finally Here

After years of development and multiple delays, Ubisoft's pirate-themed co-op open-world action RPG Skull and Bones is finally available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna, and PC. The game lets you become an infamous pirate in the Indian Ocean during the Golden Age of Piracy, where you can craft different ships, weapons and armors, explore a vast and dynamic world, hunt for resources and treasures, and engage in solo or co-op activities such as contracts, battles, raids and events. You can also customize your appearance and reputation, and face various threats and opportunities on the seas.

Skull and Bones is based on the naval combat system of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, but with more depth and variety. There are 10 ships to choose from at launch, each with their own unique perks and stats. You can also equip a multitude of powerful weapons to outgun other ships and forts, such as cannons, ballistae, mortars, rocket launchers, and torpedoes. You can also personalize your ship with different colors, patterns, emblems, figureheads, and even pets.

The game features a rich story mode that follows your rise from a nobody to a feared pirate kingpin. You can also play with up to two friends or other players online in various co-op modes, or compete with or against others in PvP battles. The game also has a Twitch extension that allows viewers to interact with streamers and influence their gameplay.

Skull and Bones is one of the most ambitious and anticipated games of 2024, and it seems to deliver on its promise of a thrilling pirate adventure. If you are a fan of naval combat, exploration, customization, and co-op gameplay, you should definitely check out Skull and Bones.

You can buy the game for $70 USD on consoles and $60 on PC, or subscribe to Ubisoft+ for $15 USD per month. You can also get the Premium Edition for $90 USD, which includes three days early access, extra missions, digital content, art book, soundtrack, and a smuggler pass token.
